Today we got a lot more editing done, however, we had to remove the pictures from what we had edited and import them again onto Final Cut Pro because it was too difficult to cut them as they had stuck together as one big film. We finally worked out how to get the titles on to our film and we have most of them done, then we will have to work out where we want the title of the film to go. We will have to go back to music to find out when we can record the vocals for our music.

Evidence of editing

These are all screen shots of our title sequence being edited in Final Cut Pro. Final Cut Pro was quite hard to use at first because I was so used to using iMovie, so it kind of threw me off with how complicated it looked, but once I knew how to do most of things I needed to it seemed easy to use and I think I managed to get the hang of it. All of our editing was done together so all decisions were made together.

Today we got a lot of editing done and are trying to decide where all of our titles will go, which is quite hard because if all of our titles come before the title of the film then it will run the risk of it looking too much like a trailer and we can't decide where we want it to go. Also, we are slowing clips down so that they will go in time with the music because its quite a slow song and some of the clips might be a little too fast for it. We decided that at the end of our title sequence we want it to black out and start with the opening sequence of our film which will be a friend of Emily's grieving her listening to creep by Radiohead on her radio, which we thought was a nice idea because it will fade out from the music over the title sequence to have it being listened to in the next scene. We have scheduled the band to record the song tomorrow after school.

Today we managed to get our title sequence transferred from iMovie to Final Cut Pro and started to edit it thoroughly. It is a lot harder on Final Cut Pro but we think we will be able to get it done. We might have to record another scream for the end because we're still not sure whether it sounds real enough and we plan on recording our music on wednesday. There are effects that we want to add in but we're not sure how to do it so we're going to have to get someone to help us with that, for example, at the end of the pictures we want it to dissolve/fade into the start of the filmed title sequence.

Journal Post 21/01/11

Today we got all of our editing done on iMovie, excluding sound effects, music and titles etc. I think it was quite successful as it didn't take that long to do, but we did have to add some more photos to our continuity sequence pictures at the start of the title sequence because it didn't look quite right just as four pictures and we also made them flick through slower. However, we still want to try and edit it on Final Cut Pro as well. At the end of next week we hope to have edited on Final Cut Pro and have recorded our music (Creep - Radiohead) and edited it onto our title sequence. As we were editing we noticed a few things that we felt we needed to change, for example, the scream at the end didn't really fit so we want to record another one and we also want to record someone panting for true sound effects.

Today we started editing and only managed to get done the part that already should have been done. However, it looks like we have a lot of film and probably won't have to shoot any more. We've also planned for our music to be recorded next week. So far, we are keeping to our Production Schedule.

Journal Post 17/01/11

We had our bit of filming edited and saved, but then Final Cut Pro wouldn't let us open it and so now we have to re-edit that part. Also, we now have to edit on iMovie. Today we got the rest of our title sequence filmed (the chase scene in the woods) and are ready to begin editing. It was successful because we got it all finished and have many shots and clips to choose from. Hopefully, we have enough and won't need to re-shoot any of it.

Today we spent our lesson updating our blogs making sure that we were all up to date. We also planned that we would film the rest of our title sequence this monday and we have chosen Bostall Woods to do it in because the location is closest to where we live and we know those woods quite well. We hope to get what we have already filmed edited.

Today we got some of our filming done which was of the vampire looking at the photos. I think it was quite successful as we got that part of the title sequence done. However, there were some things that weren't considered like how it was going to be on my bedroom wall but my bedroom wall is purple which wouldn't necessarily be on a man's bedroom wall so we had to cover it with white paper, which took up more time. Next lesson we will get together and make sure it looks ok as we go to edit it.

Music

We thought about using this song for our music in our title sequence as long as we can get a band to play it for us so that we can record it. We thought this might be a good idea because of the fast paced sections and the very slow paced sections in the song which would work well for our title sequence.

Location, Location, Location!

The location where our images for our wall were chosen to be in my bedroom. However, we haven't decided where we will hold the rest of our title sequence, it needs to be perfect for our chase scene.
Possible ideas:
  • Shooter's Hill Woods
  • Danson Park
  • Bostall Woods

Today we got all our photos printed that we needed for our wall that would hold all the images that the vampire took when he was stalking the girl. We also booked out a camera and tripod for tomorrow's filming.

Bitten Continuity Sequence Pictures

These are our pictures that will go at the start of our title sequence.

We wanted to start with a picture that was far away so that the pictures would come up in a sequence looking like she was moving. So this one looked good because it was a good distance away.

I think that this one is good as well because it does show that she has moved some distance which is exactly what we wanted from our continuity pictures.

I like this one because of how she is looking down at the floor like any person would if they were just walking along the street so I think it does make it look like she is being stalked.

This is the final image and it really helps to make it look like the vampire is just in one place watching her every move, it shows this through how her eyes are looking down again and that she is a lot closer to where the camera is.

Today we got our continuity sequence pictures done and got many other pictures for our wall done as well. It was a successful day as we got everything done that we wanted done. Now as soon as our pictures are printed, which we plan on doing in our lesson wednesday, we want to book out a camera and tripod for thursday and start to film. However, what we really wanted was for in the pictures the girl to be wearing a different outfit in each one, but we ran out of time for this to have happened so it won't look as good as it should have.

Chosen Typography

This is how we want it to appear on the screen, a black background with blood red font. With this title that will be the last thing to come up in the sequence there will be the sound of a heart beat that will cut out right at the end. Like a few films they have had a chase scene then the screen goes black which I thought could happen at the end of our title sequence. The colour of the font connotes to blood which relates to our film. The serif font looks sharp and edgy connoting to vampire's teeth.

The rest of these are our titles that will appear in white font as we want the title sequence to be a bit dark. I think they work quite well because it creates a sense of uneasiness.

Twilight - Deer Chase Scene

This is a scene from the start of the Twilight film and it relates to our chase scene. Throughout this it is a point of view shot, from the predator's point of view. This is where our chase scenes differ as we want to either keep it as the prey's point of view or even swap them. It's clear as to where the location is and that will be very similar to ours. It makes many close-up or extreme close-ups to the deer's legs or face and because of the extremely fast pace it makes it more tense and "on the edge of your seat". We want to have a fast pace in our chase scene.

Journal Post 07/01/11

Today we started to take our photos that are going to be going on a wall to show that the girl is being stalked, and tried to take our continuity sequence pictures. However, this didn't quite go to plan because when we were taking the photos we wanted to have them zoomed in because it would give a better feeling that she is being stalked, but half of the photos we took were blurry and many of our ideas of were to take them were interrupted by the rain. We plan to retake the photos using a much better camera that has a very good zoom as we want the continuity pictures to be perfect. Below is evidence of us taking photos for our wall images.

Today, we spent our time getting our storyboards on our blogs and making sure all our blogs were up to date. We finally chose the font for our typography and decided that the title would be red on a black background but the titles (written by... etc.) would be white so that they would be visible over our sequence. In our next lesson we plan to start taking photos for our wall of photos in the title sequence and we also need to get our "continuity sequence" perfect as it will be going at the start of our title sequence. We've also been finding pieces of film that will relate to our sequence.

Bitten Storyboard

Typography

1. We liked this one but thought it might seem a little boring, but we did like the pointed edges which I think is vital for our font.

2. Then we decided to look at a more fun style but this just looked too childish and we didn't want this film to look like a child's film.

3. This one is ok, but it seems too faded and not right to fit in with our film.

4. It was a hard decision to choose either this one or the one below because we liked their boldness and the edges were quite pointed.

This is our chosen font:

5. We chose this one because we thought it went well with our genre the edgyness of it goes with our vampire part of the genre and then the bold capitals give it the action part of the genre.
