Tim Burton - Sweeney Todd

As our group were told to look at Tim Burton Opening Sequences as they could relate to our film, we looked at Sweeney Todd. It starts with Organ-like music which I think makes it seem very eerie and set in an older period, however I think it connotes to a Church which could lead to the film being set in a very Christianised time. It then goes into the first clue to the scene and location, the dark and thunderous sky makes it seem like the film is going to be very dark and gruesome, and you can see many a chimney which makes it look like it will be set in a busy city. The next clue we see about the film is when along with the rain drops there are blood drops which connotes to murder and death which makes the film seem even darker and that perhaps the main character is going to be evil. The blood that drips from the outside somehow seeps into the house which makes me think that his victims could be anywhere and that the blood and bodies gets everywhere. The blood then transforms into mince meat which suggests that whoever's blood that is they have become the meat and are going to be eaten.
